The Department of Neurology at Ningbo Medical Center Lihuili Hospital is among the new round of primarily propped medical disciplines in Ningbo. Oriented at a plurality of development routes, the system of disciplines including seven groups, Cognitive Disorders Group, Neuroimmunology Group, Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Group, Cerebrovascular Disease and Interventional Group, Epilepsy Group, Neuropsychology Group and Neurorehabilitation Group, has taken shape after nearly 30 years of construction and development, with the CMI value and business volume across Zhejiang ranked among the Top 10 in Zhejiang and the first in Ningbo, and the intractable cases DRGS ranked the sixth place among all Grade III hospitals across Zhejiang. In collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery and other departments, passed the state-level advanced stroke center assessment and ranked the first place in Ningbo in respect of the the volume of thrombolysis for acute cerebral infarction; stood the first place in Ningbo in the ranking list of the stroke center of the national brain prevention committee; ranked the sixth place in Zhejiang in respect of the DRGS for acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease intervention/thrombolysis. This department is currently the only Level II epilepsy center accredited by the Chinese Anti-Epilepsy Society in Ningbo. The department is qualified for GCP drug clinical trials and can perform clinical drug and other trials.

The Department of Neurology was the first in Ningbo to set up a specialised Parkinson's disease clinic, an epilepsy clinic and a dementia clinic, with an experienced subspecialist team and a reasonable talent pool. Recognized among the top in Ningbo for treatment of severe neurological diseases, autoimmune diseases of the nervous system (e.g.: multiple sclerosis, optic neuromyelitis optica, myasthenia gravis, autoimmune encephalitis, Guillain-Barre syndrome), botulinum toxin injections for facial spasms, otolithic repositioning treatment, early post-stroke neurological rehabilitation, and identification and diagnosis of common neurological genetic diseases.
